Are you a Scoutmaster, Assistant Scoutmaster, advancement coordinator or a unit committee member interested in learning more about advancement? Do you have a Scout who is a Life Scout or soon will be? Do you have questions about the mechanics of advancement and rank requirements, merit badges, and the Eagle Scout rank and Eagle Scout Service Project Workbook? If you said 'yes' to any of the above then a unique 6-hour educational event on March 1 covering the 2013 Guide to Advancement is something you will want to attend.
The event will be led by long-time Mid-America Council Scouter, Wayne Huddleston, a member of BSA's National Advancement Committee. The National Advancement Committee is responsible for establishing all advancement policies and procedures detailed in the Guide to Advancement as well as the Eagle Scout Service Project Workbook.
Topics to be covered include the process of advancement, mechanics of advancement related to active participation, demonstrating Scout Spirit, and positions of responsibility. Also the Scoutmaster's conference, merit badges, boards of review and appeals, the Eagle Scout rank including the application, service project, time extensions and the revised Eagle Scout Service Project Workbook.
The event is being held on March 1 at Bellevue University, from 9:00 am - 3:00pm. Fee is only $5.00 per person and lunch will be provided. Space is limited so sign-up early to avoid disappointment.
