Council then produces a packet of information to mail directly to your son’s Scoutmaster. These packets are never mailed to the Eagle Scout directly. It is the Scoutmasters responsibility to ensure that the packet is presented to the family in a timely manner. If you have not received your packet within 6 weeks after the board of review you will want to follow up with your Scoutmaster as soon as possible. It is possible that packets get lost or damaged. Credentials may be re-ordered, without cost, within 90 days of the Board of Review. This rule also applies to misspellings or misprints. After 90 days, it is the Scouts' responsibility to order replacement credentials through NESA.org.
Along with general information flyers, there are several pieces of important information in each packet that you will want to make sure you have received:
- Eagle Scout Credentials Check for spelling errors as soon as you receive this.
- Scholarship Information Many of these scholarships are time sensitive. Please note: Most scholarships are awarded on a National level. Please check scouting.org as well as nesa.org for the most current information on national level scholarships. Council level scholarships are available as well.
- Each packet contains a postcard Only this postcard can be submitted to obtain the Eagle Scout Presentation kit. This postcard may be submitted to the Durham Scout Center or the Sioux City Scout Center. It is acceptable to bring this card in person to receive the kit or mail it in and the kit will be mailed to the Scoutmaster. This kit is provided at no cost to the Scout through the generous donation of Security National Bank. Included in this kit are:
- The Eagle Rank Patch
- The Eagle Rank Medal
- Mothers Pin
- Fathers Pin
- Mentor pin
PLEASE NOTE: This kit does NOT contain the neckerchief or slide, these and many other Eagle items are available for purchase in the Gottschalk Scout shop
or the Sioux City Scout Shop.
