Cub and Boy Scout opportunities at Lauritzen Gardens

Explore Lauritzen Gardens, Omaha's Botanical Center at 100 Bancroft Street, to learn about plants, wildlife and ecology. Programs for each Scout level incorporate indoor and outdoor activities that help Boy Scouts work toward Merit Badges, and Cub Scouts earn Achievements and Electives. Programs can be scheduled after school, Saturday afternoons and all school holidays. Scout program fee is $5 per Scout. Two adults admitted free for every ten Scouts. Additional adults are $7 each.

Cub Scout programs include the following: Tiger Cubs – Let's Go Outdoors – Walk and observe trees, collect leaves for leaf rubbing; Elective 30 - Plant a Seed – Plant a seed to take home; Elective 32 -Feed the Birds – Create a simple bird feeder. Bear Cubs – Achievement 5 – Sharing your world with wildlife; Achievement 6 – Take care of your planet; Elective 12 – Nature Craft – Make solar prints, collect seeds and leaves; Elective 14 – Landscaping; elective 15 – Water and soil conservation. Webelos – Naturalist Award, Forester, Geologist.

Boy Scouts may contact the education department to discuss opportunities to earn Merit Badges or do service projects.
