Unit Marketing Award of Excellence recognition

War Eagle District
Troop 208 was featured on the front page of The Siouxland Press on April 11, 2012 for their efforts toward Scouting for Food! The troop delivered door hangers to Hospers, Granville, Alton and Orange City on April 7 and collected more than 2,100 items to be delivered to the American Reformed Church Food Pantry on April 17. The pantry was in desperate need of restocking. A total of 201 volunteer hours were spent on this effort. Great job Troop 208!

Lewis & Clark District
Pack 377 was featured in the Ralston Recorder for helping the Omaha Food Bank, and on the front page of the BSA Bugle. The pack holds a cake auction every year to donate money to a charity. This year, the pack chose the Omaha Food Bank. The Scouts got to see where their money went and what it can do. Bag N' Save at 108th and Q partnered with the pack as they took their Scouts shopping for the food bank – the store even matched the pack's donation! The cake auctioneer was Mayor Don Groesser of Ralston. The pack raised $1,100. Great job Pack 377!

Troop 88 was featured on WOWT Channel 6 and also in the Omaha World-Herald for placing flags at all of the veterans' graves they could locate on the Saturday before Memorial Day. Then on Memorial Day, they lead those gathered for the ceremonies in the Pledge of Allegiance. The troop has been doing this for about 15 years. Great job Troop 88!

Earn the Unit Marketing Award of Excellence

Does your unit have a story that has received local media attention? We want you to share it with us. We also want to encourage you to seek media coverage for the good things your unit does. Sometimes we don't realize how big of an impact Scouting makes on our youth and communities. Something as basic as a roadside clean up with your Boy Scout Troop could merit a full page in your local newspaper!

The Unit Marketing Award of Excellence is for packs, troops, teams, crews, posts and ships. The award is designed to encourage units to share the news of what they are doing in their communities with local media, like newspaper, radio, TV, school newsletters, church bulletins and more!

Recognition
All units submitting an application will receive a certificate. They will also receive recognition in the BSA Bugle and on the Council website. Quarterly winners will receive a special patch for each member of their unit.
