The Mid-America Council is sponsoring a set of NRA Instructor Classes, Shotgun (March 15-17, 2013) and Rifle (April 5-7, 2013), at Covered Wagon Scout Ranch (Cedars & Eagle).
Participants and staff will be housed in the cabins at Camp Eagle, however all training, shooting and meals will take place at Camp Cedars, Dining Hall and Protzman Shooting Sports Arena.
Bring your own bedding, towels, etc. Boy Scout uniforms are not required.
Participants who complete these courses will be qualified within that firearm type, to:
- Train leaders in the basics of firearms safety and shooting fundamentals
- Train leaders to run Cub BB Gun ranges at Council-sponsored events
- Run Cub BB Ranges at Council-sponsored events and Boy Scout Rifle and/or Shotgun ranges outside of BS Summer Camp
- Register as a BSA Merit Badge Counselor for Rifle and/or Shotgun
Your training certification is good for one year and requires an additional fee of $21 per course payable to the NRA at the completion of the course, to register you as an NRA Instructor. You are NOT required to become members of the NRA to become certified instructors (although it is recommended). If you choose to become a member, an additional fee will apply. Please arrange to bring blank checks with you to each course you attend. |
