Facebook Contest Official Rules

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER

Eligibility: Entrants must be legal residents of the United States to enter the Facebook Contest” (“Contest”) and be registered members in a Mid-America Council, BSA unit. Entrants must be 13 years of age or older at the time of entering. Parents or legal guardians may submit on behalf of youth younger 13. Employees of Mid-America Council, BSA (the “Sponsor”), its affiliated companies, subsidiaries, retailers, suppliers, vendors, sales representatives, distributors, advertising agencies, promotional suppliers, and their parent companies, agents, officers, directors, and the members of the immediate families and/or persons living in the same household as such individuals, of each of the foregoing, are not eligible to enter the Contest.

VOID WHERE PROHIBITED.

Contest Period: This Contest begins on 03/28/2020 at 9:30 AM CDT and ends on 04/17/2020 at 11:59:59PM CDT (“Contest Period”). Sponsor’s computer, or its third-party service provider’s computer, is the official timekeeping device for the Contest.

How to Enter:

(a) ENTER VIA THE MID-AMERICA COUNCIL, BSA FACEBOOK PAGE: Enter via the official Facebook account for the Mid-America Council, BSA at https://www.Facebook.com/BSAMAC/, and completing all required actions.

  • Like and follow the Mid-America Council Facebook page
  • E-mail your submission to mac@scouting.org
  • Post your submission on a parents Facebook page and tag the council in the post

 

Entries containing false or fraudulent information will be disqualified. Unlimited entries per person per day regardless of the form of entry. Odds of winning depend on number of eligible entries received during the Contest Period. Entries remain the property of Sponsor and will not be returned or acknowledged.

Each Contest entry must be the original creation of each entrant and must not contain any pre-existing, third party content. Third party content includes and is not limited to trademarks, brands, logos, images, visual effects and/or images that are not the property of the entrant. Each entry must be unique and not infringe the rights of any third party.

Entries that include offensive content, commercial content that promotes anything other than the products or services offered by the Sponsors or have been published prior to or during the Contest Period will be disqualified at any point during the Contest Period at the sole discretion of the Sponsors. The Sponsors reserve the right to remove and/or report any inappropriate images for any reason.

Contest entries must not contain content: where any persons are depicted to have taken excessive risks; that is inappropriate, indecent, obscene, violent, hateful, tortuous, defamatory, slanderous or libelous; that promotes racism or hatred against any group or individual or that promotes discrimination based on race, sex, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation or age; or that is unlawful, in violation of or contrary to the laws or regulations in the state or province where the photo was captured, produced or edited, as well as the laws and regulations of the United States.

Prizes:

Winners will be available after 4/30/2020. There will be a winner for first, second and third place:

  • First place individual: youth and parent attend resident camp at no cost
  • Second place individual: youth attend resident camp at no cost
  • Third place individual: receives $25 gift card to the Gottschalk Scout Shop

In addition to the individual winners, the Unit with the highest participation will receive a pizza party for their unit’s first meeting in September.

Selection of Winner Notification:

The Mid-America Council, BSA and affiliates will hold a public vote for a period of 7 days and the top three submission with the greatest number of votes will be announced at the end of the voting period. Winners will be notified by direct message on Facebook, email, or first-class mail, or to the email address or mailing address provided with entry, within five (5) business days after the prize drawing. If a potential winner cannot be reached at the address provided and does not respond to Sponsor (or its third-party service provider) within ten (10) days from receipt of the prize notification, or if he/she is found to be ineligible, or if he/she cannot or does not otherwise comply with these Official Rules, an alternate winner will be selected by moving to the 4-6th place winners. Winner selections, winner notifications, and prize delivery will all be conducted by Sponsor.

Consent to Receive Email:

By participating in the Contest, you will OPT-IN to receive email or other communications from Sponsor and its affiliated partners. You may subsequently opt-out of the receipt of such email or communications by following the directions in the email or contacting that site. Your opt-out status will not affect your participation or chances to win in the Contest. During the Contest Period, however, you may nevertheless receive emails which Sponsor deems are related to the Contest and related programs.

General Conditions:

All Federal, state and local laws and regulations are applicable. All taxes (including, but not limited to, income taxes), and any and all service charges or fees applicable to the prize are the sole responsibility of the winners. The prize winners may be required to execute (and have notarized) an Affidavit of Eligibility, a Liability Release, and a Publicity Release (“Affidavit/Release”) which must be returned to and received by Sponsor or its third-party service provider within ten (10) days from winners’ receipt of the Affidavit/Release. The winners may also be required to complete a Form 1099 before receiving their prize(s). The prize winners may also be required to send Sponsor appropriate proof of age. Any failure to comply with the foregoing will result in disqualification and an alternate winner may be chosen. Return of the prize, the prize notification, or the Affidavit/Release as undeliverable will result in disqualification and an alternate winner will be selected. The winners’ entry into the Contest and/or acceptance of the prize constitutes permission for Sponsor and its affiliates to use the winners’ name, address (city and state), the submitted photo and/or video, and/or likeness for advertising and trade purposes without further compensation, worldwide and in perpetuity, in any and all forms of media, now known and hereafter devised, including without limitation in Sponsor’s newsletters, on the Sponsor’s website located at www.Scouting.org, or Sponsor’s Facebook page at https://www.Facebook.com/BSAMAC/. All entrants agree to comply with these Official Rules. Any person attempting to defraud or in any way tamper with this Contest and any person who does not comply with these Official Rules, will be ineligible for the prize and may be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

THE NEBRASKA COURTS (STATE AND FEDERAL) SHALL HAVE SOLE JURISDICTION OF ANY CONTROVERSIES REGARDING THE SWEEPSTAKES AND THE LAWS OF THE STATE OF NEBRASKA SHALL GOVERN THE SWEEPSTAKES. EACH ENTRANT WAIVES ANY AND ALL OBJECTIONS TO JURISDICTION AND VENUE IN THOSE COURTS AND HEREBY SUBMITS TO THE JURISDICTION OF THOSE COURTS.

If, for reasons beyond Sponsor’s control, the Contest is not capable of running as originally planned, such as tampering or bugs or infection by computer virus, Sponsor at its sole discretion, reserves the right to suspend, cancel or modify the Contest, without liability. Sponsor is not responsible for its own, its third-party service provider’s, or any entrant’s computer system, hardware, software or program malfunction or other errors, failures, delayed computer or email transmissions or network connections that are either human or technical in nature.

This Contest is void where prohibited, restricted or taxed by law.

Disclaimers: All Contest entrants agree that Sponsor, its affiliates, subsidiaries, retailers, sales representatives, distributors, advertising and promotional agencies, and each of their officers, directors, employees and agents (collectively “Sponsor Affiliates”), shall not be liable for losses or injuries of any kind resulting from acceptance or use, including misuse, of the prize, or any entrant’s participation in the Contest, or any technical malfunctions of the telephone network, transmission line, computer system or network, computer equipment, hardware, software, or any combination thereof, or any entries that are late (including delayed data transmissions), tampered with, garbled, incomplete, misdirected, lost, mutilated, delayed, corrupted, mechanically duplicated, illegible or otherwise not in compliance with these Official Rules.

Entrants also agree that Sponsor Affiliates are not responsible or liable for any injury or damage to an entrant’s or third person’s computer related to or resulting from the Contest or its prizes. Sponsor Affiliates are not liable for damage to a user’s computer system in any way due to an entrant’s participation in the Contest or downloading any information in connection with the Contest, including without limitation any server failure, lost, delayed or corrupted data or other malfunction. Sponsor reserves the right to modify or cancel the Contest in the event that it becomes technically corrupted.

Youth Protection Policy Reminder 

It’s critical that we all continue to keep youth protection top-of-mind whether our Scouting activities are taking place in person or through a digital platform. Of note, remember that BSA prohibits any one-on-one interaction between an adult leader and a Scout – in person, online, through a web conference, over the phone, via text, or in any other form.
