About Scouting for Food
Scouting for Food is an annual community service effort supported directly by the Mid-America Council and partner organizations in our local community. Under the Boy Scouts of America strategic pillar of being recognized as an advocate for youth and youth issues, Scouts across Nebraska and Western Iowa collect nearly 200,000 food items for those in need. This is the equivalent of approximately 114,000 meals. We are happy to partner with the Food Bank for the Heartland & your local food bank/pantry.
How You Can Help
- On Saturday, April 6, 2024, Scouts will be canvasing select neighborhoods to leave a a door sticker reminder. (Please do not include any glass or breakable containers in your food donation.)
- Scouts will be collecting all bagged food donations on Saturday, April 13 b/t 8 a.m. and noon, so please have your donations out and ready to go before 8 a.m. on the 13.
- If for some reason, your food donations are not picked up, we encourage you to take your donated food items to your local food bank or pantry.
- If you did not receive a door sticker and still want to donate, please take your donated food items to these select Target locations b/t 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. on April 13, your local food bank, or food pantry.
